Helen Kirkpatrick McCorkle, age 58, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. She was born in Watauga County on October 11, 1962 to Jerry Kirkpatrick and the late Richard McQueen. Helen was married to Johnny McCorkle of the residence. Helen was an active member of St. Paul AME Church where she sang in the New Jerusalem Choir. She was employed at Bemis Manufacturing Company for more than 18 years. Helen possessed a spirit of excellence where she excelled in work, at home, at church, the community and as a loving grandmother. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Mincer. Other than her husband and mother, Helen is survived by her sisters, Wanda Johnson and Amanda Dula; brothers, Gary (Terry) Kirkpatrick ; Thomas (Odette) Kirkpatrick; Albert (April) Felder; aunt, Rosalee Craven and uncle, Samuel Kirkpatrick; beloved grandchildren, Crystal Mincer; Mylaisja Mincer; Imani Mincer; Heaven Mincer and Christopher Mincer, Jr.; and a host of nieces and nephews. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Kim Moss officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service.
