Helen Woods Hartley

Helen Woods Hartley of Lenoir went to be with Jesus on October 19th, 2024, at the age of 91 years, loved and blessed!

Helen (Mamaw) was born and raised in Happy Valley, graduating from Happy Valley High school. She attended College Avenue Baptist church where she was baptized as a young woman. Mrs. Hartley was a current member of Heritage Pentecostal church where she could be found every Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday nights, beside dear friends.

Our sweet mom loved to cook, read her Bible and take care of her family! She was a true servant in life and loved the Lord with all her soul! One of her most requested desserts was her chocolate eclair cake and strawberry cake. Her sweet nature and smile would light up any room!

This precious lady leaves us with tons of memories of Easter dinners, Thanksgiving meals and Christmas celebrations. She will be missed by so many!

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years JC Hartley of Lenoir.  She leaves behind three sons and their families. Keith and Sandy Hartley, Kerry and Angie Hartley and Kenneth and Sonia Hartley. Her joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Amy and Matt, Aaron and Beverly, Kris and Julie, Korey, Kourtney and Brian, Lauren, Jon, Kyle and Faith, Spencer, Meghan and Tucker, Taylor and fiancé Evan, Mackenzie, Ava, Lily, Autumn, Cora, Jack, Knox, Noah, Salem, Carson, Amberlyn, Kolson, Leia and Ejai.

Helen was preceded in death by her many siblings, Joe Woods, Lib Bryant, Fred Woods, Richard Woods, Ray Woods, and Shirley Brittain.

She leaves behind one sister and two brothers, Dare Woods, Tommy Woods, and Kelly (Buddy) Woods.

A service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service at 12:30 PM.  Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Helen’s memory to her home church Heritage Pentecostal Church in Lenoir or Amorem/Hospice.
