Lenoir – Mrs. Helen Faye Curtis, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2020 at Caldwell UNC Health. She was born in Caldwell County on January 7, 1942 to the late Dean Curtis and Cora Crisp Curtis. Helen was an avid volunteer with the Caldwell County school system, Caldwell Hospice, Waterlife Church and throughout the community. She loved everyone she met and especially her family. Helen loved adventure, traveling and exploring new things. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Curtis; her brother, Ernest Curtis; nephew, Johnny Simmons and her step-granddaugter, Sunshine Curtis. Helen is survived by her daughter, Tammy Haigler and husband, Richard; son, James Benfield, Jr.; sisters, Betty Piercy and husband, Fred; and Shirley Swanson; and brother, Horace Curtis; grandson, Mitchell Haigler and wife, Amanda of Greer, SC; granddaughter, Leanna Morgan and husband, Wesley of Maricopa, AZ; great-grandsons, Lawson Haigler and Braxton Haigler; five granddogs and two grandcats. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at Waterlife Church on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Todd Braswell officiating. Her service will be streamed live at waterlife.online.church. Interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park at 1:00 PM with Pastor David Benfield officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Koinonia, 318 Main Street NW, Lenoir, NC28645.
