Hazel Dunn Warren

Hickory, NC- Mrs. Hazel Dunn Warren, age 85, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Lutheran Home Hickory West. She was born in Wilkes County on February 6, 1928 to the late Zollie Dunn and Vera Rhymer Saunders. She was married to the late Rufus Gwyn Warren, Jr. Mrs. Warren felt that her greatest accomplishment in life was being a mother. She was devoted to her family and friends and strongly committed to her church, First Baptist Church of Lenoir, where she was involved in the church choir, Sunday School, WMU, Benevolence, and the prayer team. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady with Caldwell Memorial Hospital and volunteered with the Caldwell County Jail Ministry. Later in life she went back to school for early childhood education and started her own daycare and then became a teaching assistant. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Barry Alan Warren. She is survived by her daughter, Renee Warren Large and husband, Steve of Murrells Inlet, SC; son, Tim Warren and wife, Wanda of Granite Falls; daughter-in-law, Judy G. Warren of Lenoir; grandsons, Matthew Warren and wife, Rachel; Joseph Warren; and Scott Warren; great-grandchildren, Lane Barry Warren and Charlotte Kate Warren. A celebration of Mrs. Warren̢۪s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Dr. David Smith officiating. Entombment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
