Hazel P. Kirby

Hazel P. Kirby, 91, of Lenoir, NC went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2024, at UNC Blue Ridge of Morganton.

Hazel was born on November 12, 1932 to the late William “Bill” and Lilly Pierce.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Kirby; Sons, Glen Michael Craig, and Johnny Ray Craig; and daughter-in-law, Jennette Johnson Craig.

Those left to cherish her memory are granddaughters, Cynthia Craig Hall and Kimberly Craig Benfield (Chad); great-grandchildren, Erica Bentley, Taylor McDaniel (Tyler), and Tyler Hall; great-great-grandchildren, Madison Keller, Zayne Thomas, Knox McDaniel, and Chase McDaniel; brothers, Fred Pierce and Junior Pierce.

Hazel enjoyed working outside in her garden. She was an avid reader of her bible, newspaper, and anything she could find.

A receiving to honor Hazel P. Kirby will be held at Zack’s Fork Baptist Church from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024. There will be a private burial at Zack’s Fork Baptist Church Cemetery on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 2:00pm with Chad Baldwin officiating.

The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Zack’s Fork Baptist Church.
