Hazel Marie Bush

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Hazel “Perk” Marie Bush, age 96 passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Bush was born in Ashe County on June 22, 1916 to the late James Wagg and Mary Magdalene Bare Poe. She was married to the late Ralph Newland Bush. Mrs. Bush was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was the last survivor of 13 children, a member of Lower Creek Baptist Church and belonged to the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Thomas Justin Setzer and grandson, Reggie Setzer. She is survived by her children, Juanita Setzer of Lenoir; Newland Heath Bush and wife, Clara Jane of Blowing Rock; Carolyn Rita Bush of Lenoir; Linda Poe Spicer and husband, Charles of Matthews; and Pixie Bush of Lenoir; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, a great many nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of Mrs. Bush’s life will be held at Lower Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2:00 with Reverend Bert Blackburn officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Collier’s Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will be accepting flowers. Pallbearers will be: Drew Bryant, Keith Setzer, Nate Bush, Cameron Helton, Dustin Helton, and Charles Spicer. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School class.
