Haywood J. Howell

Lenoir- Mr. Haywood J. Howell, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Blue Ridge Healthcare in Morganton. He was born in Wilkes County on September 15, 1942 to the late Otis and Octivia Howell. He was married to Dorethea L. Howell of the home for 54 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, James, Hubert, Ruben and Dan Howell; and sisters, Florence Horton and Katherine Thomas;. Other than his wife, Mr. Howell is survived by children of the marriage, Natalie Howell- Washington (Eddie) and Tara Howell-Armwood Herbert-deceased); children from a previous relationship, Martha June, Pamela Collett, and Paulette McCorkle; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Dallas Howell, Bennie Howell (Sonia), Clinton Howell (Patricia); sisters, Linda Borbor; Pastor Brenda Corpening (Al); Ollie Bailey (Allen);and a host of nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mr. Howell’s life will be held at St. Paul AME Church on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Byron Grayson officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service.
