Harvey Lee Lawing, Sr.

Harvey Lawing, Sr., of Hudson, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 18, 2022. Harvey was born in Gaston County to the late Oscar Lawing and Mamie Price Michael on December 19, 1933. Harvey was married to Carolyn Powell Lawing for 39 years. Harvey proudly served his county in the United States Army in the 101st and 82nd Airborne. He was an automotive trader and enthusiast that was known by and admired by others in the auto world. Harvey was a member of Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church and was currently attending Tabernacle Advent Christian Church. Harvey would want anyone who is reading this to know his favorite passage of the Bible: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” He experienced salvation on December 15, 2002 at midnight, and his testimony would be that he would want you to share in this salvation. Harvey was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him, and we will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by sister Maxine Peterson. He is, also, preceded in death by his nephew Terry Peterson. In addition to his wife, Harvey is survived by his children: Harvey Lawing, Jr and wife Yvonne of Petersburg, VA; Lynn Weller and husband Jeff of Asheville, NC; Dennis Lawing and wife Janice of Blountstown, FL; Kevin Lawing of Granite Falls, NC; Kevin Coffey and wife Connie of Rhodhiss, NC; and Lisa Pride and husband Tim of Granite Falls, NC. He is survived by his grandchildren: Dustin Coffey; Zac Coffey; Timmy Pride; Ben Burch; Jake Lawing; Braeden Lawing; Alisha Grove; Brittany Pride; Juliann Duvall; and Cheyenne Lawing; as well as his three great-grandchildren: Autumn, Masten, and Kai Duvall. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a funeral service held on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Tabernacle Advent Christian Church; Mr. Alan Sherill will be officiating the service. Interment will follow after the service at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
