Harold Smith

Harold Smith, 82, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021 at his residence. He was born on April 10, 1939, in Scotland County, NC to Roswell and Fleta Smith. In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his brother Thomas Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Carolyn Smith and his two sons, David Smith (Lynne) and Kevin Smith (Lisa), grandson, Dr. Joshua Smith (Jamie) and baby Ellie, Cathy Punch Clark (Jackie), Angel Reid (Jeff), Monty Rogers, Tammy Oakes (Walt), his sister, Pat Moody, and numerous other relatives. Harold retired from North Carolina Dept of Transportation after 33 years.Harold was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.He loved all of his children and family.Harold was an avid fisherman and tremendous Duke fan.Harold would always take Carolyn out “Rambling” to relax and he enjoyed “dabbling” in his garage with antique cars.Every Friday night and Saturday morning, he wanted to be at the “Catfish Hole”.Fishing brought a smile to his face and made him feel on top of the world.Harold was an active member of Union Baptist Church and he enjoyed reading his bible every night before bed.Sunday was NASCAR day after church worship.He worshiped the ground Carolyn walked on, and his children knew she was taken care of.He was very loved, and will be extremely missed. A 3:00 pm funeral service to honor Harold Smith will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Union Baptist Church.The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.Burial will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
