Lenoir, NC- Mr. Harold Austin Reid, age 82, of Lenoir, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at his home. Born February 12, 1925 in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late J. Robert and Bertha Jane Austin Reid and the husband of Blanche McRary Reid of the home, whom he shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Mr. Reid was a member of Union Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and other areas of the church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He attended Oak Hill High School and had worked in the furniture industry. Other than his wife, he is survived by one son, Ralph Alan Reid and wife Regina of Lenoir; two daughters, Patricia R. Hollar and husband Steve and Sandra Reid Coffey all of Lenoir; one brother, Hoyt Reid of Lenoir; one sister, Edna R. Cooke of Lenoir; 3 grandsons, Bradley Hollar, Clinton Coffey and Ralph Alan Reid, Jr. (A.J.), all of Lenoir; 2 granddaughters, Suzanne H. Bolick and husband Chad and Allison Reid all of Lenoir; 2 great-granddaughters, Brittany Smith and Gracie Lynn Bolick, both of Lenoir; one step-grandson, Dustin Mitchell and one step-granddaughter, Holly Mitchell both of Lenoir. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Graham, Don and Paul Reid, and a grandson, Lyle Austin Coffey. A celebration of Mr. Reid?s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Union Baptist Church with Reverend Myron Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Union Baptist Church on Saturday, from 10 until 11, one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be: Dustin Mitchell, Joe Sims, Bradley Hollar, A.J. Reid, Michael Sims, Clinton Coffey and Chad Bolick.
