Harold Younger Mcneil

June 10, 1925 — December 8, 2005

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Harold Younger McNeil, age 80, of Highway 268, Lenoir, died Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care. A native of Wilkes County, Mr. McNeil was a son of the late Robert Glenn McNeil, Sr. and Monies Johnson McNeil and the husband of the late Vetra Shoemaker McNeil. Mr. McNeil was much loved by his family and friends in the community and will be missed. Mr. McNeil was a charter member of Green Mountain Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and retired from Broyhill Furniture Company. Survivors include his son, Hansel McNeil and wife Diana of Hudson; one brother, Arlon McNeil and wife Archie of Lenoir; one sister, Trena Dillard and husband Claude of Lenoir; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen McNeil of Lenoir and Mary Ann McNeil of Granite Falls; three grandchildren, John McNeil and wife Sareatha of Hudson, Laura Clontz and husband Mark of Yadkin Valley; Carrie McNeil of Hudson; and two great-grandchildren, Tabatha McNeil of Hudson and Sara Clontz of Yadkin Valley. Other than his parents and wife, Mr. McNeil was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Glenn McNeil, Jr. and Joe M. McNeil. Funeral services for Mr. McNeil will be conducted 3:00 PM Saturday, December 10, 2005 at Green Mountain Baptist Church with Reverend Charles Keever and Reverend Ed Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 2 until 3 PM prior to the service and at other times at the home of Hansel and Diana McNeil, 4110 Kendell Place, Hudson.
