Gwyndolyn Riggs Frye

Lenoir, NC- Gwyndolyn Riggs Frye, age 91, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at her home. Born July 13, 1922 in Caldwell County, Ms. Frye was a daughter of the late John Henry and Charlotte Triplett Riggs. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Ned Riggs, Z.O. Riggs, Bass Riggs and Bill Riggs. Ms. Frye was a retired executive secretary with Broyhill Furniture Industries and a graduate of Lenoir High School. She was a long time member of Lower Creek Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school and worked in the nursery for over 20 years. She had served as a volunteer with exceptional children at Gamewell Elementary School and at Lower Creek Elementary School with reading. She was a wonderful mother and loved her family, especially her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She is survived by her 4 children, Les Frye and wife Frances of Granite Falls; Bev Frye and husband Joe Doll of Patterson; David Lynn Frye of Longview; Carol Frye and husband Bo Hughes of Lenoir; one brother, John Riggs and wife Peggy of Lenoir; 3 sisters, Sabra Melton of Lenoir; Peggy Jean Wilson and husband Bob of Lenoir, Mary Gay Hickman of Hickory; 3 Grandchildren, Elizabeth Frye Burnworth and husband Craig, Charlie Frye, Chris Baker and 3 Great-Grandchildren, Gwyneth Frye, Nina Burnworth and Beau Burnworth. A celebration of Ms. Frye̢۪s life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Lower Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Bert Blackburn officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM, one hour prior to the service in the fellowship hall of Lower Creek Baptist Church.
