Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Gwendolyn Simmons Setzer, age 73, of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Frye Regional Hospital. Born September 19, 1937 in Catawba County, Gwendolyn was the daughter of the late Melvin “Pucker” and Bertie Mae Simmons. Gwendolyn was a co owner and operator of the Carolina Restaurant for 25 years. She was a member of Miller Hill Baptist Church. She worked at Bush Chevrolet & GMC, and was a Mary Kay consultant. One of the things that was most important to Gwendolyn was spending time with her family, especially her children & grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Bill Setzer of the Home; Two daughters and sons in law, Gena Setzer Triplett and husband Neal of Holly Springs, and Teresa Setzer Zell and husband Gary of Ringoes, NJ; a son and daughter in law, Todd Setzer and wife Tracy of Lenoir; Eight grandchildren, Taryn Triplett Wallace, Trevin Triplett, Tanner Triplett, Sara Setzer, Sidney Setzer, Cameron Zell, Bryce Zell, and Avery Zell; she is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Mrs. Setzer’s life will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Miller Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Walsh officiating. The interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Trevin Triplett, Tanner Triplett, Cameron Zell, Chuck Ingle, Jeff Wallace, and Michael Ray.. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:30. Memorials may be made to Miller Hill Baptist Church at 1230 Virginia Street, Lenoir, NC 28645 or to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
