Lenoir, NC- Reverend Gurney ?Junior? Moody, age 68, of Lenoir, died Monday, July 28, 2008 in Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born April 20, 1940 in Avery County, he was a son of the late Robert William and Dora Elsie Gwyn Moody and the husband of Sandra Townsend Moody of the home. Reverend Moody was a member of Living Water Fellowship Church where he was a deacon. He was a former pastor and founder of New Hope Christian Church of Gamewell. He was retired from Singer Furniture. Other than his wife, he is survived by 6 sons, Mark Moody and wife Melisa; Tony Moody and wife Lori; Jody Moody and wife Crystal all of Hudson, Tim Moody and wife Frances of Gamewell; Todd Moody and wife Samantha of Lenoir, Steve Moody; two brothers, Jessie Moody of Lenoir; Harold Moody and wife Margie of Surry County, NC; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Edward, William and Gary Moody and one sister, Valerie Coffey. A celebration of Reverend Moody?s life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Faith Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Lingerfelt, Reverend Jimmy Greene, Reverend Jim Whisnant and Reverend Collis Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 PM Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Faith Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Todd and Samantha Moody, 340 Abington Road in Lenoir. Pallbearers will be: Butch Evans, Claude Bentley, Wes Stoker, Derrick Lingerfelt, Jimmy Earp, Harvey Chester, Chad Miller and David Evans. Honorary Pallbearers will be Reverend Moody?s grandsons: Phillip, Matthew, Nathaniel, T.J., Tyler, Dustin and Zachery.
