Gregory Thomas Smith

Lenoir, NC- U.S. Navy, E-2, Gregory ?Greg? Thomas Smith, age 21, died Saturday, August 18, 2007 in Lenoir. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Carl Vinson in Norfolk, Virginia. He attended South Caldwell High School, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute and Catawba Valley Community College. He loved music and skateboarding. He is survived by his father, Jerry Ray Smith of Lenoir; his mother, Judy Tolbert Smith of Hudson; one brother, Steven Alan Reese of Hickory; one sister, Mandy Lea Smith of Hudson; his paternal Grandparents, Ray T. and Sylvia Smith of Lenoir, his maternal Grandfather, Charles ?Bud? Tolbert of Hudson and his Girlfriend, Kristen Mitchum. He was preceded in death by his maternal Grandmother, Joan Tolbert. A celebration of Greg?s life will be held 6:30 PM Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Trinity United Methodist with Reverend Joyce Bunn and Reverend Lynn Hawkins officiating. Services will be concluded at the church with full military honors. The family will receive friends at Trinity United Methodist Church on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 from 4:30 until 6:30 PM prior to the service.
