Granville Joseph "Joe" Hartley

Granville Joseph “Joe” Hartley, age 82, passed away on July 8, 2024 at Caldwell UNC Health. He was born in Caldwell County on February 23, 1942 to the late Fred Monroe Hartley and Carrie Eller Hartley. He was married to Jeanette Harris Hartley of the home for 61 years.

He loved to play golf, beekeep, gardening and raising chickens. Granville was an excellent whistler, singer and at one time he was part of The Hartley’s Gospel group.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lilly Nicole Coffey.

Other than his wife, Granville is survived by his children, Roger Lee Hartley; Sharon Hartley Mitcham and husband, James; Timothy Dale Hartley and wife, Kisha; Brian Allen Hartley; grandchildren, Laura Coffey; Addison Hartley; Daylen Hartley; great-grandchildren, Kamron Carlton and Gracie Butler; brother, John Hartley; sisters, Gail Harris and husband, Roy; Nina Hicks and husband, James; Gladys Keller; his loving companion tea cup poodle Bayleigh and numerous other family and friends.

A service for Granville will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Allen Raby and Pastor Jim Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Wildwood Advent Christian Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers James Mitcham, Freddie Mitcham, Daylen Hartley, Roger Hartley, Brian Hartley and Timothy Hartley.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service.
