Grady Clarence Wilcox, age 86, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at his residence Monday July 25, 2016 He was born on September 15, 1929 in Ashe County to the late Vance and Dora Lee Parsons Wilcox. Mr. Wilcox was a member of Whitnel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Faye Wilcox, daughter Susie Wilcox Shoemaker and brothers Clyde Wilcox, Otis Wilcox and sisters Annie Mae Mclean and Edna Rector. He is survived by two daughters Jo Ann Cornett and husband Bruce of Hudson, and Mary Wilcox Miller of Pigeon Forge, TN; four brothers Fred Paul Wilcox, Hoover Wilcox, Bill Wilcox and Clifford. grandchildren, Crystal Burch and husband Robert of Hudson; Tim Cornett and wife Teresa of Lenoir; Amber Brown and husband Greg of Pigeon Forge; Toby Miller and wife Tiffany of Pigeon Forge; Matthew Shoemaker and wife Clarissa of Lenoir; Michelle Shoemaker of Lenoir; and Amanda Ellis of Lenoir; great-grandchildren, Alex Burch, Caroline Burch, Trenton Cornett, Kirsten Ellis, Zackary Ellis, Lindsay Miller, Laney Miller, and Lucas Miller; Alexis Shoemaker and Ethan Shoemaker. Grady passed away in his sleep peacefully and awoke in the arms of Jesus. Grady loved living and never turned down a challenge. He always had a can do attitude and always could figure out a way to make things happen. Many times he seemed to pull objects out of thin air. We have many fond memories of him and the antics he often pulled. More than anything he so loved his grandchildren. Never a day passed without him asking where everyone was and when they would be stopping by to see him. The Wilcox Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 30 2016 at 11:00 am at Whitnel Pentecostal Holiness Church. The funeral will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00. A Graveside Service will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The service will be officiated by Rev. Keith Gilliam, Rev. David Crisp and Rev. Bill E. Bentley. Pallbearers will be Tim Cornett, Alex Burch ,Trenton Cornett, Toby Miller, Robert Burch, Andy Harrell, Bruce Love and Greg Brown. A special thanks to Burns Woods Products who was Grady’s second family, they always made him feel special.
