Gracie Ivalee Parsons

Gracie Ivalee Parsons, 88, of Lenoir NC, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Hickory Falls Health and Rehab in Granite Falls, NC. Born on January 2, 1930 in Carter County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Solomon and Linnie Odom.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Clarence Edward Parsons, daughter – Martha Christine Abel, son – Glenn Haiggie Parsons, sisters – Bessie Eloise Crane and Lima Christine McGuire, brothers – William Pinkney Odom, Solomon Warren Leon Odom, John Hale Odom, Jay Lester Odom and Ray Vernon Odom. Mrs. Parsons is survived by daughters – Joyce Ann Calloway(Chris) and Gracie Clarice Nelson(Lesley), sons – James Wesley Parsons(Virginia), Clarence Edward Parsons, Jr.(Brenda), Thomas “Tommy” Eugene Parsons(Lori) and Robert Wayne Parsons(Rebecca), 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 6 great greatgrandchildren.Also surviving are two brothers – Bealer Valentine Odom, Edsel “Eddie” Leonard Millard Odom and several nieces and nephews. Gracie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and the best mother-in-law anyone could have.She enjoyed gardening, picking strawberries, blueberries or blackberries, making jelly and giving it to family and friends.She also enjoyed doing things with her children, whether it was snow sledding on an old car hood or going down a water slide.Gracie was always there for her family. Her greatest love was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and serving Him. Prior to her declining health she was an active member of the First Christian Church of Lenoir. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 2:00 PM at First Christian Church of Lenoir conducted by Minister Richard Via.The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
