Lenoir – Grace Amanda Holder, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Shaire Center. She was born in Caldwell County on March 9, 1928 to the late Erastus Holder and Cora McCall Holder.
Gracie was a life-long and active member of Flemings Chapel Baptist Church. She led the children’s programs, including GA’s, Mission Friends, WMU, and many other activities which are too numerous to mention. She retired with the former Southern Bell Telephone Company, after more than 32 years of service, at which time, she became involved with the Telephone Pioneers. Upon retirement, she worked at First Baptist Church Nursery School; was an active member of the ABWA; volunteered at Caldwell Memorial Hospital for several years; and was a care-giver for several families.
She enjoyed the simple things of life, care-giving, church, traveling, ministering to shut-ins with her singing and her amazing and famous “Gracie” cookies. You could count yourself blessed if you had ever received one of the thousands of cards she mailed out over the years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Holder; sisters, Edith Coffey and Frances Martin; niece, June Whittington; and nephews, Davis Coffey and Richard Craft; and great-nephew, Landon Jarvis.
Gracie is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Holder; nieces, Robin Johnson and husband, Steve; Amanda McLean and husband, Jerry; nephews, Tom Holder and John Holder and wife, Dolly; great-nieces, Whitney Jarvis along with Wes Glascoe, Andrea Cline and husband, David; Casey Craig and husband, Dustin; Jodie Coffing and husband, Matthew; Alyssa McLean and fiancée, Hunter Hartley; great-nephews, Davey Whittington and wife, Lois; Brian Whittington and wife, Roberta; Elijah McLean; Jonah McLean; great-great-nieces and nephews, Elyn and Finley Jarvis; Deklyn and Rowyn Cline; Navey Craig; Aidan and Nolan Coffing; Amber Johnson; and other close family and friends.
