Glenn Baier

November 7, 1929 — September 5, 2022

On Monday, September 5, 2022, Mrs. Glenn W. Baier of Lenoir passed away at the age of 92.

Born Hattie Glenn Williams in 1929 into a farming family in Robbins, NC.  Glenn met Walter in Charlotte, NC, where she worked as a telephone operator and he was a contract engineer with the telephone company.  After raising their four girls in a loving, Christian home, she and Walter enjoyed life to the fullest in Walter’s retirement years, traveling to all 50 states, Canada and Europe.  They were members of First Baptist Church of Hudson.

While Walter documented their travels in photographs, Glenn kept a journal, capturing her impressions of the scenery, people, flora and fauna along the way.  When no longer able to travel, Glenn and Walter settled in a seasonal site at Racoon Holler Campground in Jefferson, NC, where they made many friends and enjoyed the local beauty.

After Walter’s passing, Glenn took pleasure in feeding and watching birds on the deck of her house.  She loved visits from family and friends and enjoyed watching the progress of the large garden planted and maintained by her nearest son in law.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Walter F. Baier, along with her eight siblings.

Mrs. Baier is survived by daughters, Debbie (Mark) Belcher of Tallahassee, FL, Marsha (Harold) Wise of Hickory, NC, Laura (William) Jackson of Ridgeway, SC and Linda (Richard) Ouellette of Granite Falls, NC; her grandchildren, Justin (Kristina) Roumelis, Michelle (Matthew) Baier and Scarlet Porter; three great grandchildren, William Roumelis, Ava Roumelis and Daniel Baier; she is also survived by numerous other relatives.

A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Hudson with Pastor Mac Jarvis III officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
