Gilda Gray Powell Arney

Lenoir- Mrs. Gilda Gray Powell Arney, age 78, of Lenoir, died Friday, September 3, 2010 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. Born May 20, 1932, Mrs. Arney was a daughter of the late Robert C. and Annie Powell and the wife of the late Howard Frank Arney. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brianna Nicole Arney; 2 brothers, Jackie and Bob and one sister Carol. She is survived by her three sons, Harold Arney of the home; Neil Arney and wife Tina of Lenoir; Greg Arney and wife Amanda of Granite Falls, one daughter Robin Powell of Statesville; two sisters, Shirley Tilley and husband Mike of Drexel and Audrey Perkins of Morganton; one brother, Jerry Powell and wife Ann of Rhodhiss and four grandchildren, Jonathan Arney, Jr., Matthew Daniel Arney, Jessie Powell, and Amber Samuels. A celebration of Mrs. Arney?s life will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday, September 5, 2010 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. The family will receive friends following the service.
