Gerald D. Hollar

May 12, 1941 — January 21, 2025

Gerald Dee Hollar, age 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at UNC Health Blue Ridge after an extended illness. He was born in Caldwell County on May 12, 1941 to the late Brady and Edith Hollar.

He was a devoted Christian and committed husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law and friend.  He was an avid fisherman who loved life and sharing the word of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Harrison Hollar, sister, Jackie Sue Pope; and brother, Dean Hollar.

Gerald is survived by his daughters, Shelly Triplett and husband, Kent; Paige Austin; grandchildren, Sydney Triplett; Riley Spake; great-grandchildren, Trelon Day; Brynlon Day; companion, Gail White; and his nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Gerald’s life will be held at

Dry Ponds Baptist Church on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Rob Evans officiating. Inurnment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dry Ponds Baptist Church, 5235 Union Church Road, Granite Falls, NC 28630.
