Gerald Marion Bolick

Gerald Marion Bolick, 90, of Lenoir, NC, passed away on April 18, 2024. He was born in Patterson on August 11, 1933.

Gerald received his education from Happy Valley Primary School, Happy Valley High School, Mars Hill College, NC State University, and Duke University.

Gerald, known for his dedication and service, proudly served in the US Army.

A distinguished career followed his military service, where he taught at both the high school and college level. Gerald's passion for education extended beyond the classroom as he created grants, helped start Community Colleges and even played a part in rewriting the Navy Training Manual. Gerald enjoyed traveling all over the world.

Outside of work, Gerald found joy in his hobbies. He was involved with 4H for many years and had a great love for farming, which he pursued with enthusiasm.

Gerald worshiped at Yadkin Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and an usher. He enjoyed teaching his Sunday School Class and cooking breakfast for the Baptist Men.

Gerald will be dearly missed by his daughter Lori Taylor, his son-in-law Steve Taylor, his grandson Daniel Taylor (Gwen), and his brother Tom Bolick (Pat).

He was predeceased by: his wife, Sarah Lineberry Bolick, his parents Marion A. and Ollie Curtis Bolick, and his sisters Gladys Bolick Smith, Sarah Bolick Watson and Hazel Bolick Stephenson.

Services will be held at 12 pm on Tuesday, April 23rd at Yadkin Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Livingston officiating. Receiving will be Tuesday from 11 to 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Yadkin Baptist Church or Amorem in memory of Gerald Bolick.
