Lenoir, NC- Mr. George Alvin Watters, age 80, of Lenoir, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 15, 2009. Born May 11, 1929 in Wilkes County, Mr. Watters was a son of the late Conard and Mae Cornett Waters and the husband of the late Mary Mattie Ladd Watters to whom they were married for 57 years. Mr. Watters was a member of West Lenoir Baptist Church and a retired machine operator with Bernhardt Furniture Company. He loved attending car shows and working in his yard. He is survived by his son, Tom Watters and wife Vicky of Hudson; one grandson, Chris Watters and wife Nichole of Lenoir; one granddaughter, Kerrie Watters Tarwasokono and husband Nathanael of Tucson, Arizona and three precious great-grandsons, Noah, Isaiah and Graham. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Cleo Caudill and husband Frank of Greensboro; Inez Greene and husband Junior of Deep Gap; Shelby McGlamery and husband Bud of Lenoir and one brother, Lee Waters and wife Linda of Hudson. A celebration of Mr. Watters? life will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at West Lenoir Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Safriet and Pastor James Lockee officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 from 12:30 until 2:00 PM, prior to the service at West Lenoir Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be: Doyle Baker, Eddie Carswell, Gene Hamby, Joe Harris, William Minton and Lake Waters.
