George Smith

Morganton – George Haywood Smith, Jr., age 75, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. He was born in Caldwell County on October 5, 1945 to the late George Haywood Smith, Sr. and Annie Adkins Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Loretta Bowman Smith. Mr. Smith will always be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others. Mr. Smith is survived by his son, Eric Smith; daughter, Kim Barrier and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Ashley Murdock and Samantha Barrier Silver; and great-grandson, Reuben Murdock. The family will have a private memorial service.
