George Taylor Holden

August 13, 1938 — June 23, 2021

George Taylor Holden, age 82, of Lenoir, NC, previously of Greenville, SC went to meet his maker on June 23, 2021 at Shaire Center Nursing Home. He was the son of Lyndon and Hester Holden of Cullowhee, NC. He graduated from Cullowhee High School and retired from flooring installation after 40 years. Mr. Holden was a devoted husband and father. He was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church for over 45 years where he served as a greeter, usher and security. Surviving are his loving sisters, Jean Blanton (Roland); Loretha Gillespie (Stephen); children, Todd Holden (Lori); Joy Romano (Bill); grandchildren, Taylor Holden; Annie and Emily Kouba; Vittoria, Zacc and Alexandria Romano; great-grandchild, Ava Holden; best friend, Emanuel Montano; and like a daughter, Jennifer Smith; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean Holden, sister, Linda Morgan and mother-in-law, Ruth Turner. A memorial service will be held at Taylors First Baptist Church on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 3:00 PM with Dr. Harley officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service. The family asks that in honor of Mr. Holden guests please wear Clemson orange or Duke blue. A special thanks to Shaire Center and all their staff, Caldwell Hospice, especially Tiffany West and Ellen Stroud, Dr. Wallace and staff with Milestone Family Medicine, Taylors First Baptist Church Mercy Team and Sunday School Class, especially George and Janet Rogers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Care Adult Daycare of Hendersonville, NC, in which he tremendously loved.
