Marshall DeViney Boomer, NC- George Marshall DeViney, age 62, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Wilkes County on January 4, 1952 to the late Joseph Clayton DeViney and Virginia Faw DeViney. Marshall was married to Liz DeViney of the residence. Marshall was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was devoted to his Lord and his church, Poplar Grove Baptist Church. Marshall was a former volunteer fireman with Sawmills Fire Department and worked as a Meat Department Supervisor for Fairvalue Supermarkets for several years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn DeViney Walsh. Other than his wife, he is survived by his children, Clayton DeViney; David DeViney; James DeViney; Ericka DeViney Minton and husband, T.C.; George Huffman; brother, Thurmond Ray DeViney; grandchildren, Tyler DeViney; McKenzie DeViney; Landon Minton; and Alex Huffman. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 6:00 until 7:30. A celebration of Marshall’s life will be held at Poplar Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow the service at Little Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.
