George Bristol

Hudson – George Wilson Bristol, age 87, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Carolina Caring in Newton. He was born in Caldwell County on October 15, 1934 to the late George Washington Bristol and Ruth Walker Bristol. He was married to Shirley White Bristol of the residence for more than 65 years. George was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad after 30 years of service. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Shannon Wilson Bristol. Other than his wife, George is survived by his children, Cindy Bristol Crater and husband, David; Marti Bristol Bumgarner and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Bryan and Levia Crater; April Ledford; Joshua Bumgarner and wife, Taylor; Kelly Marler and husband, Jeremy; Ben Bumgarner and Allison DiCarlo; Kyle Bumgarner; great-grandchildren, Elijah; Izzy; Abby; and Riley; and sister, Judy Bristol Rawls. A celebration of George’s life will be held at Belleview Cemetery on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Robert Livingston officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Caldwell County Honor Guard.
