Gary Shoemaker

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Gary Edgar Shoemaker, Sr., age 71, passed away on August 16, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. He was born in Caldwell County on June 1, 1942 to the late Howard Edgar Shoemaker and Frances West Shoemaker. Mr. Shoemaker was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church and was the manager of The Coves Golf Course. He was an avid golfer and loved his friends and golf buddies.          Mr. Shoemaker was the former owner of Shoemaker Oil and a former member of Orchard Hills Golf Course, the Lenoir Golf Club and the Whitnel Optimist Club where he coached Little League Baseball. Over the years he was involved with various youth sports programs throughout the county. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Shoemaker; sister, Gail Price; and aunt, Muriel West. He is survived by his son, Gary Shoemaker, Jr. and wife, Terrie; daughter, Amy Shoemaker; long-time companion, Jeanette Main; sister, Pamela Shoemaker; brother, Terry Shoemaker; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mr. Shoemaker’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Jim Lee officiating.
