Garris Neal Brown

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Garris Neal Brown, age 80, of Lenoir, died Monday, August 25, 2008 in Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born January 14, 1928 in Smyth, Virginia, Mr. Brown was a son of the late Preston E. and Phoebe Jane Adams Brown and the husband of Theo Virginia Gullion Brown of the home. Mr. Brown was an 8 year veteran of the U.S. Army and attended the Gospel Assembly. He was the retired owner of Brown?s Furniture. Other than his wife, Mr. Brown is survived by 4 sons, Rickie Neal Brown and wife Stephanie of Spring Lake, NC; Garris Wesley Brown and wife Cuilan Xia; Johnny Brown and Larry Brown and wife Delores all of Lenoir; one daughter, Linda Marlene Brown of Newton; one sister, Louise Richardson of Bel Aire, MD; 6 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Phoebe Jane Brown, an adopted daughter, Carolyne Gibson, 3 sisters, 1 brother and 1 half-brother. A celebration of Mr. Brown?s life will be held Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 3 PM in the chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Homer Winkler officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM at Evans Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Clay Chandler, Chris Day, Charles Altizer, Neil Sanders, Rickie Brown II, and Gerald Robinson.
