Gail Klutz Beck

June 10, 1936 — January 11, 2025

Gail Klutz Beck, age 88, passed from this life into eternal life in the early afternoon of January 11, 2025, leaving behind five adoring children, eleven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, who remember her as the best Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother a child could ever have.

She was born on June 10, 1936 in Lenoir, North Carolina, to the late G.W. Klutz and Blanche Smith Klutz. She attended Lenoir High School, where she played the French Horn in the highly acclaimed Lenoir High School Band. She attended Wake Forest University and graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in elementary education. She loved teaching and taught at Valmead Elementary School for 31 years. Her students loved her, and later in life would often approach her to thank her for her kindness and the lessons she taught them. Gail’s life was devoted to her Family – her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She made their childhoods special and wonderful. Her children remember her as always being there for them and encouraging them in her gentle and kind manner. She was always positive and filled with love and hope for each member of her Family. She placed Family first in all that she did. She leaves behind an inspiring example of how to live one’s life.

Survivors include one sister, Joanna Suddreth of Lenoir, four daughters, Blanche Lane (Jeff Lane) of Morganton, Caroline Pope (Hal Pope) of Hudson, Rebecca Foster (Dr. Mike Foster) of Oak Ridge, and Elizabeth Walker of Lenoir, one son, Gill Beck (Mary Jo Beck) of Asheville, eleven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Beck will be private.

Evans Funeral Service is honored to serve the family of Gail Klutz Beck.
