Fred Glenn Woods

Darby – Mr. Fred Glenn Woods, age 82, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Wilkes County on September 17, 1932 to the late W.G. Woods and Toie Triplett Woods. He was married to Sandra Burchfield Woods for more than 41 years. Mr. Woods was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Buffalo Cove Baptist Church and was affectionately known as the “Mayor of Darby.” Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his sister and five brothers. In addition to his wife Sandra, he is survived by his sons, Alan and Grayson Woods; grandchildren, Aidyn, Natailli, and Alana Woods; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mr. Wood’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 4:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in the Wood’s Family Cemetery. Mr. Wood’s nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 prior to the service.
