Fred Frank Mccurry Jr.

August 18, 1939 — January 2, 2025

Fred F. McCurry departed this world on January 2, 2025. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Fred served in the United States Army where he met the love of his life, Erika. They were married in Furth, Germany….Twice. Fred and Erika loved to share their secret to their long marriage of 65 years, 11 months and 19 days. The secret was 2 and a half cents.

Fred also left behind 2 daughters, Angelina and Hilda, Grandchildren-Justin, Emily, Alex, Brandon and Sam. 4 Great grandchildren—Finley, Ryder, Everette and Liam.

He also left behind a multitude of family and friends to cherish his antics, sayings, and straight forward personality. Fred never met a stranger. If Fred knew you and liked you, you were a part of his family.

Fred found joy in many things during his lifetime. He was a beloved member of 3 area Coin Clubs. His knowledge of coins and precious metals was admired, and sometimes astonishing to others.

He was also a member of the Caldwell County Cattleman’s Association and Beekeeper’s Association for many years.

As an electrician by trade, he was a member and served on the board of the Caldwell County Electrical Contractors Association. His hobbies were woodworking, building things, gardening, and making people happy.

One of the things that brought him happiness was volunteering at the Pay It Forward Food Pantry. He also distributed food and smiles to many of their neighbors.

As an avid Bob Ross enthusiast, a trip to his exhibit was previously planned for January 4. In honor of Fred, the trip went on as planned. The one thing in life Fred never acquired was a Bob Ross painting or print.

“You can have everything you want in the world – once you help everyone around you get what they want.” Bob Ross
