Franklin Edwards Vernon, 61 years of age, passed away peacefully on July 12th, 2011 at Hospice of Catawba County. He was born on May 9th, 1950 in Mecklenburg County to the late Robert Kennedy Vernon and the late Florence Peterson Vernon. He leaves behind his most precious and beloved daughter Stephanie Lauren Vernon, and his soul mate, wife, and companion of 38 years Vickie Estes Vernon. Also left behind are his two beautiful sisters, Pamela Vernon Whitlow and husband Ron of Richmond, Virginia and Barbara Diane Vernon of Belmont, North Carolina. Also a loving mother in law, Rebecca Fisher Estes and a brother in law, Stephen Collis Estes, Jr., both are from Hickory, NC but reside in Granite Falls. A sister in law, Elizabeth Estes Sandridge and husband David of Louisa, Virginia and a niece Erin Painter and nephew Michael Painter, Jr., and two great nieces Katelyn Nichole Sain and Jasmine McKenzie Propst. Frank was a very compassionate and caring soul, always concerned with the happiness of others. Some of his most loved pleasures in life were music, trout fishing, nature, and reading. In addition to his family, he leaves behind a legacy of love through all those that he cared for. The Vernon family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at Hospice and to the very many friends and family that has helped them through this very difficult time. Arrangements are incomplete for a Celebration of Life ceremony to be held at a later date.
