Franklin "Jack" Mcelyea

Franklin “Jack” Hiram McElyea of Hudson, NC passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2022 at the age of 81.  Frank was born in Shouns, TN to William and Rosa McElyea on April 23, 1941.  He worked for Broyhill Furniture for 45 years.  He enjoyed to be active mowing and tending to his yard, playing softball and watching baseball – especially the Braves.

Frank is preceded in death by his mother and father, one son, Jason Hiram McElyea; two brothers, John and Louis McElyea; two baby sisters, Maryann and Bonnie McElyea; and two sons-in-law, Tony Curtis and Jerry Colbert.

Frank is survived by his wife of 60 years, Glenda McElyea; nine children, Brenda Curtis, Linda Carson and husband Dennis, Frank McElyea, Tracy Mcelyea and boyfriend Alvin Stiles, Della Colbert, Jeff McElyea, Jackie McElyea and girlfriend Tiffany Phillips, Rita Martin and boyfriend Kyle Mansch, Robin Fox and husband LaShawn.  His eighteen grandchildren, Jennifer Beamon, Tonya Church, Angie Alridge, Randy Dula, Eric Carson, Erica Carson, Billy McElyea, Ryan McElyea, Keshia Shropshire, Cody Stiles, Shane McElyea, Michael McElyea, Dustin McElyea, Alyssa Phillips, Brandon Marshall, Amber Martin, Shyheim Williams, and Shawnta Fox.  He was also survived by one special granddaughter, Grace Philyaw-McElyea; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous other loved ones, family and friends.

Funeral Services will be in Evans Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the funeral service at Evans Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jackie McElyea, Jeff McElyea, Shane McElyea, Blake McElyea, Dennis Carson and Eric Carson.
