Lenoir – Franklin Dean Effler, age 74, passed away on December 30, 2020 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. He was born in McDowell County on April 19, 1946 to the late George and Florence Effler. He was married to Yvonne Clark Effler of the residence for 55 years. Frank was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force. He served in Vietnam, Japan, Alaska and several other states. He loved to laugh and make other people laugh and would do anything he could to help others. He was a member of the Church of God and attended Heritage Pentecostal Church. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James Effler; sisters, Frances Davis, Angeline Hensley and Elaine Lankford. In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his daughters, Wendy Yvette Effler; Susan Effler Duncan and husband, Jim; and Kathy Effler Sigmon and husband, Shawn; brother, Paul Effler and wife, Ann; sisters, Freda Van Steenberg and husband, Tom; Jewell Effler King; Viola Craig and husband, Esten; and Wanda McKinney and husband, Wayne; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service celebrating Frank’s life will be held at 1: 00 PM on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Reverend Howard Smith and Pastor Jordan Swink will officiate. Military Honors will be presented by the United States Air Force and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. Covid-19 safety protocol is requested by the family.
