Frank Anthony Cantelmo, Jr. (79) of Lenoir passed away July 6th at Frye Regional Medical Center following a brief stay due to a heart attack. Tony was the son of the late Frank A. Cantelmo, Sr. (formerly of Salerno, Italy) and Pearl King of Lenoir. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Claude Cardwell, Ransom Cardwell, Edith Moore, Christine Jones, and Anna Daye, all of Lenoir. He is survived by his wife, Lanisse Smith Cantelmo, his son, Aaron D. Cantelmo, daughter-in-law, Miranda and granddaughter, Mia, also step-daughters, Dani Pennell and Toni Wright and five step-grandchildren.
Tony served his country in the Army stationed in Germany in the 1960’s. He worked as a carpenter, grader, farmer and beekeeper. One of his favorite pass-times was music. After teaching himself to play the piano by ear, he performed for many years as a keyboard player with various local bands throughout western North Carolina.
His love for the Lord was exhibited through his quiet service to others in ways large and small. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life service for Tony, Sunday, July 14th at 3:00 at Tabernacle Advent Christian Church, on Wildwood Road, Lenoir where he attended. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tabernacle at P.O. Box 596, Lenoir, NC 28645.
