SUMPTER HAVE BEEN MOVED TO SATURDAY, 2-15-2014. SERVICE TIME IS 3:30 WITH RECEIVING FROM 2:00 UNTIL 3:30, ALL TAKING PLACE AT WEST LENOIR BAPTIST CHURCH ON ABINGTON ROAD IN LENOIR. Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Frances Trivette Sumpter, age 69, of Lenoir, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born December 8, 1944 in Caldwell County, Mrs. Sumpter was a daughter of the late Donald Edwin Trivette and Mrs. Dorothy Mae Holden Trivette of Lenoir. Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Anthony “Tony” Collins. Mrs. Sumpter was a member of West Lenoir Baptist Church and had worked in the furniture industry. She was the spiritual leader of her family and the glue that held them all together. She was highly respected in the community and known for her charity and helping others in need. Other than her mother, she is survived by her three daughters, Anita Digh and husband Bill of Morganton, Amy Tester and husband Max of Lenoir, Jennifer Collins of Granite Falls; three sisters, Geraldine Wood and husband Richard of Granite Falls, Carolyn Miller of Lenoir, Peggy Whisnant and husband Barry of Icard; one brother, Eddie Trivette and wife Lilly of Whitnel, 10 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren. A celebration of Mrs. Sumpter’s life will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 14, 2014 at West Lenoir Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Safriet and Pastor James Lockee officiating. Burial will follow in the Zack’s Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 prior to the service. Pallbearers will be: William Miller, Matthew Tester, Devyn Snead, David Lee, Jonathan Brittain, Ben Snead, Michael Tester and Jason Blevins. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to West Lenoir Baptist Church, 311 NW Abington Road, Lenoir, North Carolina 28645.
