Lenoir, NC-   Mr. Floyd Clifford Hendren, age 79, of Lenoir, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 26, 2011. Born on October 24, 1931 in Wilkes County, Floyd was a son of the late Floyd James Hendren and Joyce Hendren Combs. Floyd was a shop worker for many years in the furniture industry and was also an army veteran. He was Baptist by faith and had attended the First Baptist Church in Salt Springs, FL. He was a minister and had preached for over 50 years. Floyd enjoyed staying at home and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two sisters, Cora Jarvis and Lucille May. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Cora Lee Hendren of the Home; two daughters and a son in law, Virginia and Bobby Lee Eller of Lenoir, and Debra Hendren Greene of Lenoir; a son, Floyd Raymond Hendren of Lenoir; two sisters, four brothers, five grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Floyd’s life will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Eugene Ward and Reverend Wayne May officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
