Hudson, NC- Mr. Floyd Wayne Calloway, beloved husband and father, age 68, of Hudson, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born January 17, 1941 in Watauga County, Mr. Calloway was a son of the late Robert Lee and Bessie Rupard Calloway and the husband of Alma Coffey Calloway. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers, James Byers, Paul Calloway and three sisters, Ruth Norwood, Jennie Smith and Ollie Hollar. Mr. Calloway was a lifelong truck driver. He drove for Caldwell Freight Line for 15 years and retired from Newton Transportation. Surviving other than his wife is his son, Sheldon Dwayne Calloway of Hudson; two daughters, Cacendra Calloway Kirby and husband Eddie of Taylorsville; Vaedra Calloway Bowman and husband Johnathan of Granite Falls; one brother, Earl Dean Calloway of Hudson; four sisters, Ruby Gragg, Florence Saunders, Mary Sales, all of Lenoir; Nellie Spears of Hudson and two grandchildren, Bricen Wayne Calloway of Hudson and Caitlin Leigh Kirby of Taylorsville. A celebration of Mr. Calloway?s life will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 6, 2009 at Ambassador Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Setzer officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 on Monday in the White Rock Baptist Church Cemetery in Banner Elk. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, one hour prior to the service at Ambassador Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be: Finley Watson, Jeff Calloway, Tony Ayers, Jerry Spears, Jr., Grayson Sanders and Ralph Calloway.
