Floyd "Alvin" Hamby

Floyd “Alvin” Hamby, age 66, passed away on September 8, 2023, at Caldwell UNC Healthcare.

Born on May 28, 1957, in Winston Salem to the late William Otis Hamby and Alice Irene Norris.

Alvin spent his Sunday’s worshiping at Clearview Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar and spending time with family and friends.

Alvin leaves behind his long-time partner, Roberta Hartley Blinson, of the home. His daughter, Kathryn Hamby, partner Justin Benge and grandson Sklyar Hamby. Brothers Lester Alan Hamby and wife Barbara, Roy Robin Hamby, and wife Tina. He also left behind five nephews, his beloved dog Blue.

In addition to Alvin’s parents, he was preceded in death by his son Benji Sutton and Alvin’s former wife Barbara Hamby.

A memorial service in Alvin’s honor will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. The service will be held at Clearview Baptist Church – 2455 Alfred Hartley Road, Lenoir, NC, beginning at 6:30pm.
