Florence B. Staines

Hickory, NC- Mrs. Florence Bowlin Staines, age 80, of Hickory passed away on Saturday, April 04, 2009 at the Palliative Carecenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley.Florence was born in Washington County, Virginia on March 17, 1929 to the late Leroy and Rebecca Darnell Bowlin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianne Swanson; two brothers, Kenny Bowlin and Roger Bowlin; and three sisters, Zuella Simmons, Octavia Holtsclaw, and Mary Brenman.She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harry Wilbur Staines of the home; two daughters, Gloria Cross of Boone, and Sharon Horne of Sawmills; five sons, Harry Staines Jr. and wife Sharon of Hudson, Wayne Staines of Charlotte, Robert Staines and wife Tammy of Granite Falls, Randy Staines and wife Tammy of Granite Falls, and Ronnie Staines of Hickory; one sister, Velma Hatley of sawmills; two brothers, Manuel Bowlin and John Bowlin, both from Lenoir; she is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.A celebration of Florence̢۪s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Carl Willix and Bobby Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00PM Monday, April 6, 2009 at Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir.Pallbearers will be Norman Staines, Chris Staines, Damon Kirby, Robbie Moretz, Will Moretz, and Chris Allison.
