Fleta Kerley Reid

Fleta Kerley Reid, age 85, of Blue Ridge Circle, Lenoir, NC passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice on Kirkwood Street in Lenoir after a brief illness. Mrs. Reid was born in Alexander County on May 23, 1928 to the late Daniel and Maude Kerley. Upon her mother’s early death, she was reared by her beloved grandparents, Tobias and Martha Bumgarner. She was a member of Women of the Moose and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lenoir, where she recently joined the choir. She is survived by her two children, Martha Herman and her husband, Kent, of Taylorsville, NC; a son, Roger Reid, and his wife, Sherry, of Lenoir, NC; a granddaughter, Tanya Severt, and her husband, Bobby, of Lenoir; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Branson Severt, of Lenoir; a step grandson, Scott Huffstetler, of Raleigh; a step granddaughter, Beth Coffey, of Lenoir; a great step granddaughter, Morgan Phelps, of Lenoir; a great step grandson, Grey Huffstetler, of Raleigh, NC; a brother, Willis Kerley, of Kannapolis, NC and a sister, Evelyn Barnes, of Taylorsville, NC. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, July 6, 2013. The service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Dr. Charles Dickson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park, Lenoir, NC. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Bryant, Gary Clonch, Scott Huffstetler, Burton Reid, Bobby Severt and Branson Severt.
