Faye Ellen Braswell

Faye Ellen Miller Braswell, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir after a period of declining health. Born on November 20, 1932, in Catawba County and a resident of the Hudson community, Mrs. Braswell was the daughter of the late James and Edith Miller of Conover, NC. A homemaker known for her love of her family and friends and for her cooking and quilting talents, Mrs. Braswell was founder and leader of local Troop 159 of the Girl Scouts of America and was a long-time member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hudson. Actively involved, Mrs. Braswell was vice president of the Women of the ELCA, a member of the Altar Guild, a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School instructor, and an enthusiastic participant in the church’s ministries.   In addition to her parents, Mrs. Braswell was preceded in death by her step-sons, Neil K. Braswell and Eddie L. Braswell, and two brothers, Glen Miller and Ray Miller. She is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Robert C. Braswell, Jr., of Lenoir Health Care and by her daughter, Pam Walker of Hudson. Additional survivors include her sister, Kathleen Hollar and husband Max of Connelly Springs; her brothers, William Miller of Morganton;  Guy Miller and wife Dorothy of Hickory; Max Miller and wife Helen of Conover; Charles Miller and wife Virginia of Powell, TN; Tommy Miller and wife Cathy of Concord;  her sister-in-law, Katie Miller of Conover; her grandsons, Justin Walker of Elizabethton, TN; Jody Braswell of Fort Myers, FL; Toby Miller of Sevierville, TN; and Chad Braswell of Hudson; her granddaughter, Kristy Kimberly of Orlando, FL; eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by thirty-eight nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Braswell will be held at St. John’s, at 4:00 on Sunday, February 3, with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Weisner officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. Mrs. Braswell’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Rusty Craig and Myron Day.
