Faye Alley

Faye Greene Alley passed and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, September 10, 2015 after a long illness, surrounded by her family.Faye was born in Boone, NC on April 18th, 1929 to the late Vilas and Nina Belle Greene, although raised by her Grandparents, Roe and Estie Cook Greene. She received her education in the Boone and Hudson school systems as well as the Clevenger College in Lenoir in 1960.Ms. Alley owned and operated the Cedar Valley Day Care Center in Hudson for 43 years, giving literally to the thousands of the small children she cared for, her love and attention to grow into fine and productive citizens. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life as were all her children. She was preceded in death by her late husband of 49 years, Lem Alley who passed in 1995, her daughter, Becky who passed in 1958 and brother, Tommy Joe Greene. She will be dearly missed by her surviving children, Mike and Janice Cantrell of Chapel Hill; Ted and Brenda Alley of Lenoir; Tonna Alley of Lenoir; Chris Alley of Asheville; Pat and Rene’ Alley of Hudson; Tim and Sharon Alley of Hudson and David “Bunky” Alley of Hudson.She is also survived by her brothers Earl Greene of Asheville, Jim Greene of Winston-Salem; Max Greene of Hickory and her sisters, Azalea Hand of Hudson and Marlene Johnson of Hudson.Words can’t express adequately how great a Mom and role model she was.But we can say we loved her dearly and we will miss her immensely until we are reunited again in God’s kingdom. A celebration of Ms. Alley’s life will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, September 13, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Hudson with Reverend Mack Jarvis, Reverend Wade Dellinger and Jamie Parsons officiating.Burial will follow in the Sardis Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday prior to the service from 2:00 until 4:00 PM. Pallbearers will be:Kevin Kirby, Jeff Murphy, Bill Barlow, Jeff Almond Chris Bradshaw and Larry Haas.Honorary Pallbearers will be:Ashley Drew Cantrell, David Rhyne Alley, Logan Alley, Zachary Merriken, Michael Andrews and Derek Barringer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
