Everett "Leroy" Sweet

Mr. Everett “Leroy” Sweet, Sr., age 76, of Lenoir passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born June 20, 1943 in Alexander county, Leroy was a son of the late Perry and Shirley Mecimore Sweet.Leroy spent many years working in the textile industry.He was a member of the Abundant Life Church of God.He started and was very proud of the Bible Ministry for new members of the church. Some of the things he enjoyed most were watching racing and wrestling. He loved to travel.He will also be remembered as a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother to his children, Sarah Bell Sweet; two daughters, Carol Ann Minton and Sarah Ellen Hall; a step son, David Kevin Anderson; and numerous brothers and sisters. Survivors include his loving wife, Janet June Sweet of Lenoir; one daughter, Blanche Rena Powell (husband Curtis) of Morganton; a son Everett “Leroy” Sweet, Jr. of Claremont; two step daughters, Pamela Sue Hayes (husband Jeff) of Lenoir and Penny Elaine Hefner (husband Joe) of Drexel;A step son, Dale Edward Anderson (wife Tammy) of Lenoir;two sisters, Carolyne Modean Winstead and Margie Sweet Lane; he is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Leroy’s life will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the Abundant Life Church of God at 3:00 PM with Pastor Howard Smith and Pastor James Lopes officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Abundant Life Church of God Bible Ministry at 333 Cedar Valley Road, Hudson, NC28638 or to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC28645.
