Lenoir – Evelyne Townsend Hoilman, age 69, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care. She was born in Watauga County on April 25, 1947 to the late Claud and Helen Townsend. Evelyne will always be remembered by her family as a loving Mother and Nanny. She lived to help others, not just her family and friends, but also her church and community. Evelyne got a lot of enjoyment from baking and decorating cakes. She was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Banner Elk for the first 30 years of her life and then joined St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Evelyne retired from Broyhill Furniture Industries after 40 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wilbert Clay Townsend and niece Kimberly Craig. Evelyne is survived by her daughters, Melissa Woodruff and husband, Wayne; Melinda Clontz and husband, Jeff; brothers, Boyd Townsend; Edward Townsend and wife, Joyce; sisters, Ruby Church and husband, Harold; Violet Braswell and husband, Jim; sister-in-law Emma Townsend; grandchildren, Jacob Woodruff and Sam Clontz; granddaughter, Avery Clontz; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Evelyne’s life will be held at Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Banner Elk on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 4:00 PM with Pastor David Mielke officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, November 19 from 3:00 until 4:30 PM.
