Evelyn Guire Allen

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Evelyn Guire Allen, age 101, of Lenoir, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008; in Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born April 22, 1906 in Caldwell County, Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late Virgil D. and Lena Triplett Guire, and the wife of the late Austin Newland Allen. Mrs. Allen is survived by Dear Friend and Caregiver Joyce Lawing of Lenoir, N.C.; one cousin Annalea Ledbetter of Lenoir, N.C.; two nieces Anne Shore of Winston Salem, N.C. and Roberta Davis of Charlotte, N.C. Mrs. Allen attended Lenoir High School and was a graduate of Queens College of Charlotte, N.C. Mrs. Allen taught after graduation of college, and was an Artist for over fifty years. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lenoir, N.C. A Celebration of Mrs. Allen?s Life will be held Friday, January 18, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church of Lenoir at 11 am with Rev. Robert Hinman and Rev. Parker T. Williamson officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Leslie Hines, Ed Schell, Dent Sullivan, Hal Lawing, Jr. Gary Clawson, Harold Lawing, Sr., A.G.
