Hudson- Mrs. Eulna Mae “Granny” Nelson Church, age 93, of Hudson, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson surrounded by her loving family.Born June 2, 1922 in Wilkes County, Mrs. Church was a daughter of the late Jasper Leroy and Effie Jeanette Nelson. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Roger Allie Church; a daughter, Hope Church, twin granddaughters, Brenda Kay and Linda Gail Craig; son-in-law, Tommy Summerlin and grandson-in-law, Brian Williams. Mrs. Church was devoted to her family and provided years of care and visits to her ailing mother.She was a source of encouragement to her children and grandchildren.She cherished time that she spent with them.“Granny Church” spent a lifetime caring for others.She spent over 40 years providing childcare to a countless number of children in Lenoir and Hudson.She loved each and every one of them as her own and became their “Granny Church” too. She was a devoted member of Hibriten Baptist Church and the Senior Citizen’s Class who became an extension of her family.She loved each and every one of them.They were a source of strength and comfort. Another source of joy was her love of gardening.She spent endless hours cultivating her flowers and was proud of the beauty created with her “green thumb”. Mrs. Church is survived by loving husband of nearly 73 years, Allie Atris Church; three daughters, Janette Craig and husband Dorman; Wanda Laws and husband Jerry; Brenda Baumberger and husband Mike; her daughter-in-law, Karen Church; her grandchildren, Kim Gragg and husband Keith; Crystal Williams and friend Randy; Teresa Robertson and husband James; Tamara Dillard and husband Lonnie; Beth Laws; Mitchell Laws and wife Donna; Brian Craig; Maggie Thomas and husband Gregg; Heather Gragg and husband Jon and great-grandchildren; Trevor, Carly, Brandon and wife Brittany, Brook, Lauren, Andrew, Tyler and wife Emily, Tanner, Taryn, Katelyn, Alex, Atris, Asher, Clementine,Silas, Lachlan, Wiley, Summerlin, Hadley and great-great-grandchildren, Anthony and Jaxxon. A celebration of Mrs. Church’s life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Hibriten Baptist Church with Reverend Douglas Cox and Reverend Devon Severt officiating.Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Evans Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be:Brian Craig, Mitchell Laws, Alex Laws, Trevor Gragg, Brandon Williams, Tanner Dillard, Tyler Dillard and Andrew Robertson.
