Lenoir, NC- Mr. Ernest Wayne Robbins, age 91, of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 at his residence. Born February 24, 1922 in Caldwell County, Mr. Robbins was a son of the late Rufus Ervin and Pearl Powell Robbins and the husband of the late Edith Coffey Robbins. Other than his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Renee Herman; 2 brothers, Rhonda Robbins, Atwell Suddreth, 3 sisters; Lorena McGhinnis, Verilee Greene and Gladys Whitner. Ernest was Baptist by faith and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II from November of 1942 until December 1945. He received the American Theater Campaign, the Eamet Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze service stars, 2 Purple Hearts and the Good Conduct Medal. He is survived by 2 sons, Wayne Milton Robbins and wife Gail and Bobby Robbins and wife Debbie; four daughters, Carolyn Robbins Hicks, Donna Robbins Herman and husband R.L.; cherry Robbins and Lynn Robbins Roberts and husband Joe; two sisters, Norma Cozort and Dorothy Bounds, 15 Grandkids and 18 Great-Grandkids. Other surviving relatives include his devoted nephew, Richard Myers plus several other nephews and nieces; special friends, Clyde Hall, Charlie Sparks, Lane & Mitch Atkinson and Wilma Mikeal. A special Thank You to Caldwell Hospice Caregivers: Debbie McCroskey, Joy Sherrill, Kathy Messing, Stephanie Spencer, Joyce Roberts and Chaplain Nancy Campbell. A graveside service with Full Military Honors will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mr. Robbins’ Grandsons; Honorary Pallbearers will be his Great-Grandchildren.
